Analysis of 18 Jul 2026BOB is an OP Stack Layer 2 that combines Ethereum execution and settlement with a roadmap for Bitcoin finality and trust-minimized BTC deposits. Its mainnet launched in May 2024, and the July 2025 OP Kailua upgrade added zero-knowledge fault proofs.

The BOB Foundation token whitepaper states that the live Phase 1 network still uses a single sequencer, while Bitcoin staking and BitVM-based deposits remain Phase 2 work. BOB also operates Gateway, an intents-based routing product for moving native BTC into swaps and DeFi positions across supported chains.
The official project recap published in December 2025 reported more than 68,000 Gateway transactions from 30,000 users.
Current adoption is smaller than the pre-token narrative: DefiLlama reported about USD 9.6 million in chain TVL and USD 3,652 in 30-day fees on July 18, 2026.
CoinGecko reported BOB at USD 0.003996, a USD 12.5 million market cap, rank 1,029, and 86.3% below its December 2025 all-time high. Public development remains active.
GitHub data collected on July 18 showed 57 repositories in the BOB Collective organization, five pushed in the prior 30 days, and 39 commits to the main bob repository during that window.
