About Hemi

Analysis of 31 Mar 2026

Hemi is a modular Layer 2 network that bridges Bitcoin and Ethereum by embedding a complete Bitcoin node within an Ethereum Virtual Machine. Co-founded by Jeff Garzik, an early Bitcoin Core developer and Linux kernel contributor, and Max Sanchez, the inventor of Proof-of-Proof (PoP) consensus at VeriBlock, the project launched its mainnet in March 2025.

The Hemi Virtual Machine (hVM) enables smart contracts to natively access Bitcoin transaction data, UTXOs, and block metadata without external oracles. The network uses PoP consensus to periodically anchor its state to the Bitcoin blockchain, inheriting Bitcoin proof-of-work security.

Since mainnet launch, Hemi has attracted over $1.2 billion in TVL, integrated 70+ ecosystem partners including Sushi and LayerZero, and built a network of 200,000 active PoP miners. The HEMI token has a maximum supply of 10 billion, with approximately 9.8% currently circulating.

The token is listed on Binance and trades near $0.006 with a market cap of roughly $6 million, down 97% from its September 2025 ATH.
