KNC serves governance token for KyberDAO, enabling holders to stake tokens (currently 22.72% staking ratio) for voting rights while earning ETH rewards at approximately 2.32% APR from network trading fees. In August 2025, KyberSwap launched FairFlow, an innovative MEV redistribution mechanism on Uniswap V4 that captures arbitrage value and returns 70% to liquidity providers, achieving 21% APR compared to 16% for standard pools.

However, the protocol faces severe challenges from a November 2023 exploit that drained $48.9 million in user assets with only $5.7 million recovered. As of December 2025, KNC trades at approximately $0.27 with a $50 million market cap, down 95.5% from its April 2022 all-time high of $5.72, reflecting persistent trust issues and competitive pressures in the commoditized aggregator market.
