Binance-Peg BUSD is a discontinued BEP-20 stablecoin wrapper on BNB Chain with a $283.06 million market cap and 282.9 million circulating tokens as of July 2, 2026, trading at $1.0005. Paxos permanently halted new ERC-20 BUSD minting on February 21, 2023 under a New York Department of Financial Services order.

Binance still maintains the BEP-20 bridge token by locking underlying collateral in reserve wallets on Ethereum. Circulating supply declined from $290.54 million in February 2026 to $283.06 million on July 2, 2026, down over 98% from the $23 billion peak in November 2022.

The SEC dropped its unregistered security investigation into Paxos in July 2024. On August 7, 2025, Paxos paid a $48.5 million NYDFS settlement covering a $26.5 million penalty and $22 million in compliance upgrades tied to $1.6 billion in historical Binance transactions.

Binance ended platform support for BUSD on December 15, 2023 and auto-converted remaining user balances to FDUSD in January 2024. By July 2, 2026, 24-hour trading volume contracted 68% from $2.02 million in February 2026 to $651,079 across PancakeSwap v2 pools.

Roughly 3.83 million BNB Chain addresses still hold residual balances that rely on bridge unwrapping or DEX swaps for exit.
