Bonfida built the Solana Name Service, which maps complex wallet addresses to human-readable identifiers on the Solana blockchain. The project rebranded to Solana Name Service in July 2024 to focus on decentralized identity infrastructure.

Across the Solana ecosystem, the protocol registered more than 450,000 domains across over 227,000 unique holders. Over 150 applications integrate its naming standard, including Phantom, Solflare, MetaMask Snaps, and Solana Mobile.
Unlike annual subscription registries, the protocol introduced perpetual domain registration without recurring renewal fees. However, the May 2025 launch of a separate SNS governance token with a 10 billion supply shifted protocol governance away from FIDA.
That structural transition left FIDA as a legacy infrastructure token with diminished governance authority and an uncertain role inside the naming ecosystem.
