GAS is the divisible utility token used to pay for computation, storage, transfers, asset registration, and dApp execution on Neo N3. It is distinct from indivisible NEO, which carries governance rights and generates GAS rewards for holders and voters.

System fees are burned, while network fees reward consensus nodes. On April 27, 2026, the Neo Council executed an on-chain proposal that cut N3 block time from 15 seconds to three seconds and reduced issuance from 5 GAS to 1 GAS per block, preserving the approximate issuance rate while improving responsiveness.
GAS is also a permanent asset in the native bridge to Neo X, Neo’s EVM-compatible network. As of July 24, 2026, CoinGecko reported about 65.09 million GAS in circulating and total supply, no maximum supply, a market capitalization near $67.2 million, and roughly $2.9 million of 24-hour volume.
The utility is real and protocol-level, but investment demand remains dependent on a comparatively small ecosystem.
