ICON (ICX) is a South Korean cross-chain interoperability protocol transitioning into the SODAX execution network on Sonic. Originally launched in 2017 as an enterprise Layer 1 blockchain, the project developed the Blockchain Transmission Protocol and xCall messaging standard.

In May 2025, ICON rebranded to SODAX and began migrating its DeFi stack to the Sonic blockchain with a 1:1 ICX-to-SODA token swap. During 2026, the legacy Layer 1 chain entered an economic shutdown that halted block emissions and native staking rewards.

The two-way ICX-to-SODA swap window closed on September 30, 2026, leaving a one-way migration path ahead of the December 31, 2026 chain shutdown. After December 31, 2026, the original ICON blockchain will operate solely as a read-only archive.
