Maple Finance is an institutional on-chain credit protocol operating across Ethereum, Base, and Solana. Launched in May 2021, the platform rebuilt its lending architecture around overcollateralized V2 credit pools after 2022 market defaults.

Governance proposals MIP-009 and MIP-010 migrated the legacy MPL token to SYRUP at a 1:100 ratio starting in November 2024. The official MPL conversion window permanently closed on May 21, 2025 under MIP-017, shifting all governance and staking utility to SYRUP.

By October 2026, protocol total value locked reached $2.71 billion while total assets under management stood near $4.8 billion. Active institutional loans grew to $1.67 billion in Q3 2026 alongside retail yield vaults syrupUSDC and syrupUSDT.

In May 2026, Maple settled its Cayman Islands legal dispute with Core Foundation over syrupBTC.
