Staked Aave (stkAAVE) is the ERC-20 receipt token minted when users stake AAVE in the Aave Safety Module on Ethereum. Each token represents a 1:1 claim on underlying AAVE while granting full DAO governance voting power across both staked and cooldown balances.

Since the June 2025 launch of the Umbrella system, automated shortfall coverage has shifted toward asset-specific aToken staking pools. Legacy stkAAVE holders earn roughly 6% to 7% APY in protocol safety incentives and Merit rewards with slashing disabled during the transition.
In March 2026, governance proposal AIP-459 reduced the unstaking cooldown parameter alongside the mandatory 2-day redemption window. By October 2026, the parent Aave protocol secured over $19.1 billion in net total value locked and $10 billion in active loans.
Protocol operations generated $907 million in 2025 revenue, funding a $50 million annual DAO AAVE buyback program.
