USDU is the UAE's first Central Bank-registered USD-backed stablecoin, launched on January 29, 2026 by Abu Dhabi-based Universal Digital Intl Limited and regulated as a Foreign Payment Token under the Payment Token Services Regulation by the Abu Dhabi Global Market Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA). USDU remains the only U.S. dollar stablecoin formally registered under the CBUAE's payment token regime, while global stablecoins such as Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC lack registration under the central bank's framework.
